today, i lead a ride out of the ecology center. a rider who i was not familiar with showed up to ride. as we we ready to roll, he put his earphones in. i said to him (and i quote), "if you are going to ride with the group, you can not wear headphones.
he responded (i do not remember the exact quote) and bolted out of the parking lot alone.
