Fellow Members and Board Members,
My experience as ride leader would by many be considered extensive.
Two decades as New York Cycle Club ride leader and Sig training leader(B & C levels), active board member, and more.
I bring this experience to the East End of LI and know a number of riders out here in Greenport and environs hungry for organized day rides without having to drive as far as is required now.
It seems though that there exists a brick wall in achieving leader status in SBRA.
Over the past 5 years, and as an SBRA member, my emails to the Board have fallen on deaf ears, with one single response as follows: "no one wants rides out there."
After I laughed out loud at such nonsense, my shock set in.
Could it be that SBRA is a moribund club? Its Board members resistant to new blood in the ride leader ranks? This is what I asked myself.
Perhaps there are new board members now who see the value in a vigorous, vital and open leader path.
Please alert me if that is the case.
Ellen
